our five-fold emphasis

Chi Alpha strives to fulfill Christ's Great Commission on the university and college campuses of America. Our goal is to see students, faculty, and staff become wholly obedient to God--allowing every area of their lives to come under His oversight. We pursue our mission by involving students in a community of faith. In doing so, we seek to emulate the lifestyle of the early church:

"They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved."   Acts 2:42-47

Here we see the early church living life in obedience to Christ, through five primary tasks:

1. prayer  "they devoted themselves . . . to prayer"
2. worship  "broke bread," "met together in the temple courts," "praising God"
3. fellowship  "had everything in common," "ate together"
4. discipleship  "devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching"
5. witness  "the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved"

It is our firm conviction that this is how God wants us to live our lives in all that we do.
